Geology Comments

Sep 27, 2022 (Therese Pettigrew) - The property lies the eastern Wawa Subprovince within the Superior Structural Province (Williams et al., 1991). The property lies within an area that has seen only sparse government mapping programs and only a small amount of historic mineral exploration. Regional-scale mapping by Milne (1968) indicated that the rocks in the area were predominantly granitic, consisting of the older Black Pic Tonalite Gneissic Batholith and the younger granitic Dotted Lake Pluton in the southwest of the property. The composition of the granitic rocks varies widely ranging from granite to tonalite. Prospecting and mapping by Spence (2000) indicated that the granites contain numerous mafic to ultramafic xenoliths or fragments, some of which are Ni-Cu-PGE mineralized. These xenoliths are most visible at the Tyko Main Showing and can be subdivided into groups. The most important are medium- to coarse-grained, dark green ultramafics and mafics that vary in composition from hornblendite to biotite hornblendite to hornblende gabbro. These are not always mineralized, but are host to the vast majority of Ni-Cu mineralization seen on the property. Significant mineralization is also hosted in coarse-grained, talc-altered pyroxenite fragments. Although these make up only a small portion of the overall mineralized intervals, they are often the highest grade. All the above Archean-aged rock units are cut by several Proterozoic-aged diabase dykes, which include the Matachewan (NW trending), Biscotasing/Abitibi (NE trending), and Marathon (N-trending) swarms (Assessment report 20000014345).

Mineralization Comments

Sep 27, 2022 (Therese Pettigrew) - The 2021 field season identified the 600 meter long West Pickle EM anomaly (Palladium One press release October 28, 2021), which was followed up by soil sampling that returned up to 153 ppm copper and 116 ppm nickel (Palladium One press release November 30, 2021). The lithologies and mineralization in the first two holes at West Pickle closely resemble those found at the Smoke Lake, RJ, and Tyko zones, which together form a new nickel district. West Pickle is interpreted to be an extension of the historic RJ showing, along a potential feeder dyke system, located 2.7 kilometres to the east. Hole TK-22-058 intersected an 8.7 meters zone containing locally deformed ultramafic rocks from 213.0 to 221.7 meters down hole with minor stringer and disseminated nickel-copper sulphides. Hole TK-22-059 intersected a 5.5 meters zone of nickel-copper sulphide mineralization within deformed ultramafic rocks from 183.0 to 188.5 metres down hole, with a 1.75 meters core zone of massive to semi-massive nickel-copper sulphides, and returned 2.33% Ni, 1.85% Cu, 0.21 g/t Pd, 0.21 g/t Pt, and 0.03 g/t Au over 3.7 m, including 4.79% Ni, 3.67% Cu, 0.41 g/t Pt, 0.41 g/t Pt, and 0.05 g/t Au over 1.8 m (Palladium One press release Oct 4, 2022). To November 2022, mineralization has been intersected over a 500 m strike length. DDH TK22-060 returned 3.18% Ni, 0.99% Cu, 0.06% Co, 0.18 g/t Pd, 0.18 g/t Pt, and 0.02 g/t Au over 2.4 m from 186.6-189.0 m, including 7.60% Ni, 1.25% Cu, 0.12% Co, 0.18 g/t Pd, 0.20 g/t Pd, and 0.03 g/t Au over 0.5 m from 188.0-188.5 m (Palladium One press release Nov 21, 2022). DDH TK22-0770 returned 10.41% Ni, 3.4% Cu, 0.14% Co, 0.53 g/t Pd, 0.34 g/t Pt, and 0.04 g/t Au over 2.3 m, including 12.9% Ni, 2.7% Cu, 0.16% Co, 0.67 g/t Pd, 0.34 g/t Pt, and 0.04 g/t Au over 0.9 m (Palladium One news release Nov 29, 2022). The most easterly hole drilled to early 2023 on the West Pickle Zone (Hole TK22-117), intersected high-grade massive nickel-copper sulphides and has extended the zone to over 600 meters in length. DDH TK22-117 returned 1.9% Ni, 1.04% Cu, 0.03% Co, 0.33 g/t Pd 0.24 g/t Pt, and 0.02 g/t Au over 2.6 m (Palladium One news release April 19, 2023).
