Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Wabigoon

Belt: Obonga Lake

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Jun 27, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Obonga Project covers the Obonga Greenstone Belt which consists of a 32 km long by up to 9km wide, broadly east-west striking, tract of Archean age metamorphosed volcanic, sedimentary and intrusive rocks in the Wabigoon Subprovince. The Wishbone prospect is underlain by Archean supracrustal volcanics which comprise massive to pillowed basalt and andesite overlain by predominantly dacitic lithologies with localised rhyolitic units. Minor mafic lapilli tuff and hetrolithic breccia area also found within the volcanic pile. Sediments are relatively minor and comprise biotite rich schist and garnet bearing chloritic bands (Assessment report 20000020259).

Mineralization Comments

Jun 27, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - In 1971 Dome Exploration Canada Ltd. (“Dome”) drilled 2 holes (21-7-1 and 21-7-2) north of the Wishbone target. These two holes encountered stringer to massive bands of pyrite and pyrrhotite with inclusions of galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and molybdenite. DDH 21-7-2 returned 0.25% Zn and 0.08 oz/t Ag (2.5 g/t Ag) over 10.1 feet (Assessment report 52H13NW9445). DDH BBR21-WB001 returned 1.1% Zn over 1.5 m from 235.5 m depth from semi-massive sulphides (pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite) in a felsic volcanic (Assessment report 20000020259).
