Jul 19, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Silverback property straddles the Lac de Mille Lac greenstone belt and the Marmion terrain (Stone 2004) within the central Wabigoon Subprovince. Stone (2004) mapped a series of late mafic-ultramafic intrusions in both the Lac de Mille Lac greenstone belt and the Marmion batholith and described them as follows: 1. An oval stock (approximately 800 m diameter) of coarse-grained varitextured gabbro and hornblendite intruding the gneisses of the Marmion batholith located north of central Lac des Mille Lacs. 2. Discordant dikes of peridotitic to pyroxenitic composition cut volcanic sequences of the Lac des Mille Lacs greenstone belt. The dikes strike northerly and northeasterly and attain a width of up to 100 m where exposed on islands in Lac des Mille Lacs north of Bolton Bay. 3. Large angular boulders of hornblendite and peridotite occur on the shores of a small crescentic pond 4 km east of Baril Lake.

Jul 19, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - In 2021, B. Holbik collected a grab sample from the Silverback Au occurrence and submitted it to ALS Canada Ltd. for analysis. The sample, which was collected from narrow quartz veins with malachite staining, returned 0.69 ppm Au and 1840 ppm Cu. At the Silverback Ni showing 150 m to the west (NAD83 Zone 15, 664856mE 5411796mN), sample 21DCSB038 returned 1469 ppm Ni, 114.7 ppm Co, 21.23 ppb Pt, 15.94 ppb Pd from an ultramafic with disseminated sulphides (Campbell et al., 2022). In 2022, B. Holbik stripped an area adjacent to the original discovery and encountered gold and copper mineralization within sheared, altered mafic intrusive host rocks containing stringers and disseminations of chalcopyrite, pyrite, and bornite. Grab sampling returned results of up to 5.64% Cu and 9.78 g/t Au (Campbell et al., 2023).
