Lithology Comments

Feb 21, 2013 (A Wilson) - Six feet of Oriskany sandstone was exposed. The sandstone is grey to brown, medium- to fine-grained and thickly bedded. The sandstone is underlain by brown Bertie-Akron dolomite and is overlain by grey, cherty Bois Blanc Limestone (Bertie Fm). The quarry exposes 18.8 m of Upper Silurian to Lower Devonian strata, which includes 12.2 m of Bertie Formation, 2.2 m of the Oriskany Formation and 4.4 m of the Bois Blanc Formation




Mineralization Comments

Feb 21, 2013 (A Wilson) - The Presbyterian church in Caledonia is believed to have been constructed from sandstone from this quarry location.
