Feb 21, 2013 (A Wilson) - Thirteen to 14 feet of sandstone is exposed in the quarry face. The sandstone is grey to brown, iron-stained in part, medium-grained and has mainly thick irregular bedding. It is usually friable but some quartzitic patches were noted. The beds are 1-5 feet in thickness.

Mineralization Comments

Feb 21, 2013 (A Wilson) - Analysis of the sand produced from the pit returned 97.04% SiO2, 0.30% Al2O3, 0.08% Fe2O3, 0.12% MgO, 0.59% CaO, 0.04% Na2O, 0.10% K2O and 0.04 Ti2O. The silica was used for rock wool insulation towards the end of the production at the quarry.
