Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - The quarry exposes 9.68 m of Middle Silurian section consisting from bottom Reynales Fm (2.05 m), Irondequoit Fm (1.52 m), Rochester Fm (0.83 m), Lockport Fm-Gasport Member(4.03 m) and Goat Island Member(1.25 m). The Reynales Fm is grey-brown, fine to medium crystalline interbedded dolostone and shales.The Irondeuoit Fm is a crinoidal, dolomitic limestone, brown-buff and fairly massive. The Rochester Fm is an argillaceous dolostone with interbedded shale . The Gasport Member is brown to buff , med .to coarse crystalline, thin-bedded, fossiliferous dolostone and the Goat Island Member is grey to buff, coarse crystalline and fossilifeous dolostone.
