Exploration History

Canada Brick bought the already licensed property from the National Sewer Pipe in 1990. The property includes lands east and west of King Road. Canada Brick started extracting shale from the site in 1998 in preparation for construction of ther brick plant. The first commercial production started in April 2001. The official opening/full production of the brick plant was done in May 2002.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - Queenston Formation shale dominantly soft with frequent green, carbonate-rich , competent shale layers, occasional to frequent gypsum seams and stockworks and rare gypsum. Plant capacity is approximately 150 million brick units per year as estimated from owner-supplied reports.
