Exploration History

The quarry was operated for a short time in the 1960's primarily for crushed stone for road construction. As evident from a old lime kiln beside it, the quarry may have been used at sometime as a source for lime.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - 12 m quarry face exposes 10.5 m of Amabel Formation consisting of light brown dolostone, medium crystalline, massive irregular beds, sparsely fossiliferous, occasionally abundant crinoidal debris.The bottom 1.5 m of the face is composed of shaly dolostone of Reynales Formation, light to dark grey, fine crystalline with abundant shale partings.
