Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - The quarry exposes 21.47 m of Middle and Lower Silurian section as shown below: 9.3 m of Amabel dolostone, tan-brown, fine to v.coarse crystalline, massive bedded, calcite crystals, abundant crinoids, brachiopods and bryozoans 9.17 m of Amabel dolostone, dark grey to brown, similar to above, but rare braciopods and abundant grey banding in the lower half 2m of Lower Silurain Reynales Fm dolostone, grey-green, thin bedded, pyrite mineralization, scattered fossil trails on bedding planes 1 m of Cabot Head Fm shale, olive green, no bedding with apparent dolomitic laminae.
