Exploration History

1870 : a pit was worked for copper - the orebody was lenticular in shape and traced for 12 ft with a maximum thickness of 10 inches. It consisted of nearly pure chalcopyrite with thin veins of calcite and some pyrite . About 10 tons of rich ore was mined, leaving the ore-body exhausted. In 1923 no rock or ore could be seen around the collapsed pit. Small stringers of magnetite, mixed with chalcopyrite, were noted (1852) over an area 50 yds by 6-7 inches on this lot and seems to be associated with the copper (1863). No magnetite is marked on GSC map 7-1963 on lot 7, con2.
