Point Location Description: Point 3.25 km SE of Rows Corners.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Immediately S of the rail line, from which a spur formerly extended into the quarry.
Pre-1912 : quarrying in the area was being carried out prior to 1863, but there was no production in 1912. Some of the output from this quarry was used for architectural purposes, but the great bulk of production went into railway bridges, etc. The quarry was nearly a 1/4 ml long and 50-100 ft wide with a depth of 40 ft in places.
Province: Paleozoic and Mesozoic Basins
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - March Formation calcareous sandstone and dolostone, thin and medium-bedded with some crystal-lined cavities. Strong joints 6-8 ft apart with infrequent and irregular cross joints. Considerable waste in production of large stone blocks. Sample # 45 (1918) is probably from this quarry, on the S side of the Prescott road. # 46 (1918) is from an opening on an (unknown) adjoining lot - the G. Sherwood farm, on the N side of the Prescott road; from a slightly higher stratigraphic level.
