Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The Brockville granite varies from red to pink, sometimes weathering greyish. It is mostly rather coarse-grained and uniform, but biotite and magnetite bunches can give a spotty appearance. It is occasionaly porphyritic. Tourmaline (seen up to 5 inches in diameter) occurs abundantly in some outcrops. The granite is massive and well-jointed. It is said to be easily worked and polished.
