Point Location Description: Quarry symbol 3.2 km SE of Napanee.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: A small quarry, between the road and the CNR.
Early 1900s : operated as a producer of crushed stone for roads before closing. Owned by Don Hunt and on about 1.4 acres. Moderate vegetation cover. The quarry is now used as a dump by the owner.
Province: Paleozoic and Mesozoic Basins
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The quarry, excavated into a low bluff, exposes the middle Ordovician Gull River Formation - some parts of the face (6 m) are covered with talus. This is a thin-bedded, very fine-grained, dark grey limestone which is fossiliferous - abundant brachiopods, trilobites, gastropods and corals. There are irregular seams of shale in the upper beds but hardly any in the lower. Sample # 75 (1938).
