Exploration History

Circa 1938 : quarry was used for road metal and occasionally (operated by H. Kinkley) for making lime. The face is 22 ft with only the zone that is 31/2 ft thick, beginning 5 ft from the top, being used for lime making. This is free from shale, whereas the overlying beds are seamed with it. Beneath the lime beds is 5 ft of very thinly-bedded stone with shale partings and then 9 ft of evenly-bedded limestone ( up to 7 inches thick). This has been quarried as building stone. Samples # 74, 74A (1938). Quarry is large and overgrown.
