Point Location Description: Precise, adit Fe, just N of property symbol 51 SW of Banker Lake.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Drive 5.3 km west of Hwy 62 on Hwy 7. Turn left (at Jarvis Road turnoff) and drive 0.6 km. Park at clearing. Walk along road between fences for 200 m. East of fence about 18 m is a small pit.



Exploration History

Pre 1900: Mining from open cut. 1953: Anthony Owen, - one hole (38 m). 1970: Marmoraton Mining Co.- ground geophysics (MAG). 1971: R M Kirkwood - sampling, assaying and analysis. 1971: Bethlehem Chile Iron Mines Ltd.- drilling (6 DDH, 509 m). 1987: G Guillet - one hole (49 m). 1988 -2007: Iko Industries Ltd. - drilling (15 DDH, 309.63 m), industrial mineral testing and marketing, sampling, assaying, analysis, environmental studies, geological mapping. Since 1991, I.K.O. Industries Ltd. has been operating a trap rock quarry under the name of Madoc Quarry in Lots 2, 3 concessions 1 and 2. An on-site mill and colouring plant produce roofing granules, which are trucked to the company’s asphalt shingle manufacturing plant in Brampton. In addition to roofing granules, stone from the quarry is crushed to produce HL-1 aggregate (asphalt road surfacing mix). The quarry is licenced under the Aggregate Resources Act with a maximum tonnage of 2000000 tonnes per year.
