The quarry was operated in the early 1900's for crushed stone which was used in local road construction.

Dec 07, 2005 (D Laidlaw) - The 4.6 metre deep quarry exposes limestones of the Middle Ordovician Bobcaygeon Formation. A small normal fault occurs on the face of the quarry, with a displacement of only a few centimetres (OFR 5863, p169).
