Exploration History

This quarry, in 1985, was reportedly under operation by 3 companies- McFarland, J.C. Storey and Dennison. They wanted 25.7, 16.0 and 75.0 acres to be designated, respectively. A total of 57 acres had been disturbed at this time. Part of the quarry was flooded and being used as a swimming hole (said to be dangerous). Face height is 10-20 ft, overburden is 1-2 m thick. 2023: Approximately 20 ha owned and licensed by the Tomlinson Group.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - In 1986 the quarry consisted of 2 lifts, the lower one being partially water-filled and 7.5 m exposed above the water level. Thin-bedded, generally microcrystalline limestone of the upper member of the Gull River Formation is exposed. See OGS 1989 for description of lithology and analyses.
