Point Location Description: Dot symbol ' Fe ' on small island in N-central part of Newboro Lake.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: About 1/2 ml S of the Matthews ( Yankee ) Mine.
1850s and 1860s : 3 large pits, 150 x 50 ft and 1 small pit - titanium-rich magnetite was mined on an island near the NW shore of Newboro Lake ( now partly-flooded ). 1958 : New Mylamaque Explorations Ltd optioned the Chaffey property and carried out a mag survey, drilling ( 11DDH ), sampling and beneficiation and smelting tests. 1965-6 : New Mylamaque carried out more drilling and geophysics.
