Lithology Comments

Nov 20, 2013 (A Wilson) - The sandstone is exposed in a 12-foot scarp at the tip of Hudson Bay at the south end of Big Rideau Lake. The sandstone comprises 10 feet of the scarp and is underlain by 2 feet of conglomerate. Both units overlie Precambrian granite. The sandstone is described as buff- to grey-weathering friable sandstone, some which is limonite-stained.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 20, 2013 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by the OGS in 1978 assayed: 99.19% SiO2, 0.04% Fe2O3, 0.33% Al2O3, 0.05% MgO and 0.04 CaO. Analysis from OGS DDH 1eC returned 99.71% SiO2, 0.049% Fe2O3, 0.21% Al2O3, 0.01% MgO and 0.18 CaO over 3.2 m.
