Feb 20, 2013 (A Wilson) - Quartz crystals mined for radio frequency control and bomb sights (valued at $3000 per ton due to war effort). A total of 5,610 tons of rock were removed, and some quartz crystals were recovered. (AR 69-2, p92). The majority of the crystals were ¼ inch or less in diameter though they may be as much as 4 inches thick. Most of them are less than 2 inches lon, but some are 10-12 inches in length. The smaller crystals are usually clearer.
