Aug 11, 2015 (A Wilson) - Potsdam sandstone occurs along the Hart road. On the east side of the road in lots 26 and 27 there is a good quarry site with a total elevation of more than 40 ft. A scarp is composed of thick-bedded white sandstone with one bed of buff-weathering sandstone from 2-3 ft. thick. The bulk of the sandstone is friable. At the eastern limit of the sandstone, a 2 foot thick unit of basal conglomerate is exposed. The sandstone lies atop Precambrian crystalline limestone (marble).
