Sep 03, 2015 (A Wilson) - Medium- to coarse grained, very compact Grenville calcium limestone is exposed at the village of Delta and has been quarried for making lime. Limestone for burning was at one time obtained from several bands of calcium limestone in a ridge a short distance south of the kiln. However, the bands of pure stone were thin and associated with quartzite and brownish white dolomite.
