Aug 14, 2024 (Therese Pettigrew) - Galena is found in calcite veins. A vertical shaft 12' by 5' by 30' was sunk (Malczak et al., 1985). The pit, which was sunk about the beginning of the 1900s, lies in coarse-textured white crystalline limestones, which strike approximately N. 40 W. and dip 50 N.E. The galena occurs in a narrow vein of white calcite, which strikes N. 70 W. Granite intrusions occur in the vicinity. The amount of galena exposed is of mineralogical interest only (Harding ,1948).
