Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The rock is a quartz-muscovite schist. The unit is poorly exposed and highly sheared. The dominant phases are muscovite, quartz and biotite. They exist as Muscovite schists with quartz bands; in hand specimen the muscovite is preferentially weathered relative to the quartz resulting in apparent quartz rich zones which stand out in relief.

Date: Sep 16, 1999
Geologist: C Papertzian
Notes: Pit size is approximately 125' x 90' x 20' with the west side showing a shear rock face. The deposit is 50 meters thick with a strike length of 2.5 km. Reserves are in excess of 10 million tons.
Date: Aug 11, 2003
Geologist: C Papertzian
Notes: This site was visited on April 30, 2003 and on July 24th, 2003. The original road could not be used due to flooding caused by beavers. An alternate route further along the abandoned railway tracks was used and the last quarter mile to the pit could only be accessed by walking, due to the activity of the beavers. On both occaisions, the floor of the pit was covered with approximately 6 inches of water. No activity has occurred at this site for quite some time.
