Access Description: The major workings are located immediately S of Hwy 7 and W of the Skootamatta River.Travel W on Hwy 7 from Hwy 37 for 320 m and turn S into the Price Conservation Area. Follow the road 160 m along the river until the water pump and old concrete bridge supports are reached. Pit # 7 is located 70 m at N30E from the concrete supports. Return to Hwy 7 and head W 420 m. Turn S on a side road and drive 200 m to a junction, then 65 m E to a bend in tbe road. A tiny, hidden track bears E; follow it for 91 m until a small gate is reached (where the fence changes from barbed wire to page wire). Pit # 6 is 30 m S and pit # 2 is 43 m N. Return to the track at the gate and go a further 390 m E along the bottom of the ridge until a point, directly behind a telephone pole and house to the N, is reached. Pit # 1 is 35 m S on the side of the ridge. Pit # 4 is 88 m W along the road and 11 m N from the previously mentioned junction. Pits A and B (Clapp Property ) are S 55 m from the road at this point. Pit # 3 is 73 m further W along the road and 60 m N, perpendicular to the road. Pit # 5 is 91 m further W along the road and 23 m N.
1872: 5 pits/shafts, 20-42 ft deep were sunk by Flint. c1901: Joseph James further developed the property and deepened 1 shaft by 10 ft. (2 pits were opened up on the adjoining Clapp property - see ' Clapp ', MDI31C11SW00057). 1987-88: Lacana Mining Corp and Corona Corp carried out geological, soil geochemical and geophysical (mag, VLF-EM) surveys on claims covering the Barry and James Joseph properties (lots 4-6, con 2). They drilled 5 holes on lot 5, con 2 and lot 4, con 3.

Province: Grenville
Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Located at the contact between mafic metavolcanics and overlying clastic metasediments. Minor gold mineralization occurs within an anastomising quartz vein system reported to be about 400 ft wide and 0.5 ml long. Mineralization is said to occurr in veins and irregular lenses up to 3.5 ft wide, and there are at least 4 distinct zones, 1 of which appears to be nearly 100 ft wide (1902). The quartz veins carry tourmaline and arsenopyrite (up to 5 % by vol over a 2 ft length of DDH core) with po, cp, py. Au is low and erratic - assays from core ranged from 0.033 to 0.099 oz/t over 2 ft (Lacana/Corona, 1988) though earlier assays have contained almost 1 oz/t.
