Point Location Description: General, Point just N of Hawkins Bay.

Access Description: On the eastern side of Hawkins Bay near the boundary between Lots 8 and 9, Concession XIV.



Exploration History

1870's: H.G. Vennor documented the presence of gold in trace amounts, associated with copper ore and quartz veins, within white and pink crystalline limestone. 1929: Tweed Copper Mining Syndicate developed a copper-gold-silver-antimony prospect. 1939: Wilson reported a copper occurrence at the same property. 1991: Robert Ross of Belleville carried out prospecting, sampled the dumps of a prospect pit, ran soil geochemical and VLF-EM surveys across the mineralized zone as part of an OPAP project.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 12, 2007 (D Laidlaw) - Grab samples from the heavily mineralized vein material assayed up to 3% copper, 0.09 ounce per ton gold, 11.1 ounces per ton silver and 1.23% antimony. Veins contain up to 5% tetrahedrite (OFR5808).
