Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - This pit may have been an extension of the Sophia Gold mine which is located on lot 14, concession 10. At the Sophia Gold mine a quartz vein carrying both arsenopyrite and gold was discovered in 1896. The veins occur in volcanic rocks which strike northwest and dip vertically. It has been reported that 2 veins were located on the Sophia property. One of the veins named the 'mispickel vein' had a strike of due north and south. The 'free milling vein' had a strike of northwest to southeast.

No outcrop was present. According to Map 2154, the pit is located in an amphibolite schist. Two trenches were also seen on the property.
