Point Location Description: Pit symbol on GSC map 3828, published in 1913.

Location Method: Field Visit

Access Description: From the junction of highway 7 and 62, travel east for 3.4 miles on highway 7 to Rapids road. Turn south and travel 0.9 miles to a clearing on the north east side of the road. Follow a trail, east, up the hill approximately 150 feet from the road. The pit was located 25 feet from the trail, on the left and was visible.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The pit is located on the contact of a marble and mica shist and gneiss to the north east. To the south west a pod of gneiss and granite syenite was located. No mineralization could be seen in the dump material aside from the fact that some of the material was rusty.

Site Visit Information

Date: Mar 21, 2001

Geologist: C Papertzian

Notes: The site was visited for the first time on January 20, 2000. At that time the pit measured 10 feet wide by 20 feet long and was at least 45 feet to water. The long axis of the pit strikes 260 degrees and the dip was 60 degrees to the north. The pit was approximately 150 feet from the travelled portion of Rapids road and 25 feet from and ATV trail. The site was again visited on July 18th, 2000 and it had been completely filled in. The site had been totally rehabilitated.
