Point Location Description: Precise Shaft nearest property symbol 17 in SE-part of township.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Approximately 8 km northeast of Bannockburn; access can be gained to the property by following Hwy 62 north to Bannockburn. The first turn off after Bannockburn, on Wolf Lake Road is travelled for 4 km until reaching a T in the road. Turn east (right) and travel 0.4 km until a Y intersection is reached. Veer right and travel 4.5 km to the the abandoned mine site. Four-wheel drive or ATV is suggested for the last 4.5.



Exploration History

1896: a 100 foot shaft was sunk. 1902 to 1907: 2 shafts were sunk; 165 ft and 210 ft. 1905-1906: 248 ounces of gold were milled from 1,850 tons of ore. The recovered grade was 0.13 ounces of gold per ton. Reserves are unknown; waste rock is estimated at 10,000 to 16,000 tons of unknown grade. Between 1934 and 1936, the shafts were deepened to 200 and 245 feet, and work was done on three levels. 1981: group of individuals from Belleville, Ontario sampled all of the waste piles around the mine site.
