Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The Tudor Volcanics is a belt of basic volcanic rocks that extends southward into Madoc Township from Tudor township. The band is approximately 1.5 miles wide. To the east the volcanic band is intruded by the Elzevir granite. To the west the volcanic belt is overlain by metasedimentary rocks, chiefly marble. The volcanics are green-weathering dark-coloured andesite. They belong to the greenschist facies. Thin sections indicate that the rocks are composed principally of hornblende and plagioclase, and some chlorite and carbonate. Talc and actinolite are developed as hydrothermal alteration products in some places. ( Hewitt, 1968, GR 73, p 4,5).
Date: Mar 21, 2001
Geologist: C Papertzian
Notes: This addit was visited on Oct. 5, 2000. The addit was 30 to 40 feet long, with a strike of 318 degrees. A quartz vein was apparent in the back and this was enclosed by ampibolite schist. A pit, measuring 15 feet by 20 feet was adjacent to the addit along with the dump material. Another pit/addit was dug a short distance away from the first addit mentioned. This partial addit measured 10 foot square, was inclined at 45 degrees and was 25 feet long, with a strike of 276 degrees. Leading away from the addit a 30 foot long trench had been dug which was 15 feet wide. No quartz was seen at the second addit/trench. Amphibolite schist was the main rock type here.

Notes: This addit was visited briefly on October 5, 2000. The area was well overgrown and no activity had taken place here for quite some time. The addit itself was 30 to 40 feet long with a strike of 318 degrees. Near the entrance a quartz veing was visible, surrounded by mafic metavolcanics. Off to the south side of the addit, a pit 15 by 20 feet can be found along with broken material. Very little quartz was seen in the dump. Approximately 500 feet away, another addit and trench were noted . The addit measured 10 ft square and was approximately 25 feet deep, inclined at approximately 45 degrees. A 30 foot long trench extended from the mouth of the addit and it was 15 feet wide. The strike of this feature was 276 degrees. No mention of this property could be found in the literature.
