Point Location Description: Shaft just W of mine symbol 14 and closest to Moira River, 2.3 km NW of Eldorado.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Drive 10.75 km north on Hwy 62 from the junction of Hwy 7 & 62 near Madoc. Turn left or west onto Hastings Road #11 and drive 1.1 km. Turn north or right onto a private road and drive 0.5 km. The old mine site is located on the left side or west side of the road.



Exploration History

1911: William Hungerford purchased the mining rights from G.D. Gordon and organized the Eldorado Talc and Silica Company. They sank a 75-foot inclined shaft and built a mill. 1914-1916: the company was reorganized as Eldorite Limited and operated until 1916. 1919: The Eldorado Mining and Milling Company took over the property and operated it until November 1920. The property has remained idle since that time and the buildings have been torn down.
