Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: The Gatling Five Acre mine is located in the southeast corner of lot 10, concession 9 in Marmora township, approximately 1.5 km northeast of Deloro and 6 km northeast of Marmora. It is accessible on foot from a 1 km trail which runs east from the Deloro road, less than 1 km north of the town.



Exploration History

1895: The property was initially assessed, an unspecified amount of work was completed. 1899: The Atlas Arsenic Company Limited was incorporated and acquired the property. No. 1 shaft opened to 85 feet and drifting, no. 2 shaft opened to 60 feet and 10-stamp mill facilities completed. 1900: Underground development, power house erected. 610 ounces of gold recovered from 1,500 tons of milled ore. 1901: Underground development continued. 1902: Development and 422 oz. of gold recovered from 1,150 tons ore milled. 1903: 1,321 oz. of gold were recovered from 3,464 tons ore. 1904: Mining and milling activities ceased (see OFR 5548, p328-330 for details). 1983: Goldbrook Explorations Ltd. carried out VLF-EM, self-potential and magnetic surveys on the property followed up by diamond drilling in 1984. Three holes were drilled.
