Exploration History

As of 1885, the workings consisted of a large open-cut 125ft long, 15ft wide, and with a 20ft face. A dump is located just south of the cut. In 1960, the Emily deposit was re-examined by dip needle survey and diamond drilling carried out for Edward Barton of Peterborough by B.C. Robson. Seven drill holes ranging in length from 46 to 120ft were put down in the anomaly northeas of the open-cut. (GR67, p.82-83).

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Laidlaw) - The magnetite mineralization is of the contact metasomatic variety. It occurs in a skarn zone between metasedimentary rocks (mainly marble) to the east and granodiorite to the west. The fine to coarse-grained magnetite occurs as irregularly shaped masses and stringers, intimately mixed with the gangue. The anomalous zone is about 400ft long and 75ft wide appearing with 75ft of the surface. (ODM 1943 AR Vol. 52, Pt. 3, p.49).
