Exploration History

1938-42 : developed and worked by F. Orser, production unknown. There is an open pit 100 ft long x 15 ft wide and 15-20 ft deep. This immediately adjoins the old mica mine of General Electric Co (probably on an extension of the same dyke). Here, the 2 main pits are said to be 80-90 ft deep. 1942 : Nabco Manganese Mining Co Ltd held the N half of lot 8, con 6 and cleaned out the pit in preparation for mining muscovite. Apparently, there was no production. 1944 : Marston Minerals Ltd held 300 acres on lots 8 and 9, con 6 and the S halves of lots 8 and 9, con 7. They produced about 20 tons of mine-run mica, presumably on lot 8, con 6. There was surface trenching and a 67 ft shaft with a short level at 50 ft and a total of 55 ft of drifting. 1950 : Creighton Orser mined 25 tons, in surface trenches on lot 8, con 6.
