Exploration History

1986: United Reef Petroleums Ltd. prospecting in the area yielded discovery of 6.3 g/t gold from a grab sample in the NW corner of Lot 27 Con 14 and was followed with further staking, Mag and VLF-EM survey, trenching and stripping programs. 1989 H. Dowhaluk conducted redonnaissance mapping and prospecting in the area which yielded a 22.5 g/t Au sample from a narrow quartz vein and he staked 12 claims in Con 12 & 13 Lots 25-28 then completed Mag & VLF-EM surveys, geological mapping and manual stripping programs. The properties lapsed. 2014-15: property staked by R. Waring who conducted prospecting and sampling on the area. 2016: R. Waring reported a 66.6 g/t Au from the same quartz vein and 13.3 g/t Au 1 km to NE.

Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic

Geology Comments

Aug 10, 2016 (L Hall) - Tholeiitic mafic volcanic rocks and intrusive rocks of the Canniff Complex (tonalite, gabbro, metavolcanics – possible ophiolite fragment) are overlain by younger volcaniclastic rocks of the Grimsthorpe Group. These are intruded by (from oldest to youngest) the Killer Creek Gabbro, Elzevir Tonalite (1270 Ma), and Skootamatta Syenite (1085Ma). The Partrige Creek shear zone, a north-northeast-trending deformation zone up to 100 m wide, lies on the western margin of the Killer Creek gabbro and transects the property. Gold mineralization on the property occurs in quartz veins hosted by sheared and brecciated volcaniclastic rocks to the west of the Partridge Creek shear zone.
