Exploration History

1992-5 : J. Laidlaw and T. Beesley carried out mapping (reconnaissance and detail), geophysics (mag,VLF, E-M) and soil and rock geochemical sampling. Initial prospecting covered a 35 sq km area and led to work on 2 claim blocks (North - lots 23-7, con 15 and lots 24-7S, con 16). Work on these claims formed the basis of OPAPS by Laidlaw and Beesley. 1996-1998 Laidlaw and Beesley carried out mapping, prospecting (2.18557, 2.19373). 1998-1999 Laidlaw and Beesley performed a heavy mineral sampling survey of glacial tills to follow-up gold geochemical anomalies (2.20362). January 2001: Grenville Gold Corp. (Beesley and Laidlaw) drilled 8 holes (1 040 m). 6 holes were designed to test Enzyme Leach anomalies. Two holes were drilled to test up ice from gold-bearing iron formation boulders. July 2001 Short-hole drill program by Grenville Gold to test the possible source for a showing of high grade delicate gold grains (230 grains) in basal till.

Geology

Province: Grenville

Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The showing on lot 29, con 10, is a rusty quartz vein (up to 12 inches wide) in biotite gneiss. There is abundant py. Gold mineralization is associated with quartz-ankerite veins in mafic metasediments and metavolcanics near the N contact of the Lingham Lake Diorite/Gabbro. Bedrock values have failed to explain the soil geochemistry in this area.
