Point Location Description: Precise , dot symbol Talc, between Cross Lake and Robertsville.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: The deposit is reached by approximately 4 km of dirt road leading west from the mill on Highway 509 near Robertsville.



Exploration History

1946: Test pits were put down in 1946 by Montgomery and Scott of Havelock. 1979: RAM Petroleums Limited leased the property and erected a mill. 1982 - 1986: up to 15,000 tpa of tremolite was produced for use in asphalt road construction. (OFR 5714, p62).

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Laidlaw) - a zone of talc-tremolite schist 50 feet (15m) wide was exposed intermittently over a length of 1000 feet (300 m). The strike is east-west and the dip of the schist is vertical. The band is strongly dragfolded.' Hewitt'.

Mineralization Comments

May 01, 2008 (D Laidlaw) - A milled product consisting of 80 to 95% tremolite and 5 to 20% combined talc and mica has been produced by RAM Petroleums Ltd. (OFR 5714, p62). Proven reserves are reported to be 1.55 Mt of tremolite, 220,000 t of mica and 110,000 of talc (Industrial Minerals, June 1986, p.7).
