Point Location Description: Precise, dot symbol Cu, Au just SSE of Robertsville, SE-part of Tp.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: This occurrence is located approximately 3.5 km south of Mississippi Station and 13.5 km north of Sharbot Lake. It is accessible on foot approximately 0.8 km east of Hwy 509 at a point 4.5 road km south of Mississippi Station.



Exploration History

1870's: Initial discovery and few shallow pits opened by unknown operators. 1920's: 2 large pits (35 feet deep) excavated by unknown operators. 1939: 500 pound sample of mineralized material was sent to the Ore Dressing Plant in Ottawa. Concentrates assayed 32% Cu. 1948-49: The Picamine Prospecting Syndicate carried out some surface development. Picamine Copper Gold Mines Limited acquired the property and carried out geological and geophysical surveys and a diamond drill program (998 feet). 1952: One drill hole (349 ft) completed on the Riddell Property Lot 1 Con. IX. 1957: An assessment report for Corval Corporation Limited states that a geological and soil geochemical survey was carried out in Lot 1 Con. IX. The report mentions that one drill hole was completed by Quebec Metallurgical Industries Limited. 1958: A diamond drill assessment report indicates that one barren hole (81 feet) was drilled in the northeast part of Lot 1 Con. IX. The operator was not identified. (OFR 5548, pp 341, 342).
