Point Location Description: Boerth Gold Mine shaft, property # 1, just S of Swamp Creek.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Located E of Fernleigh, 100 yds S of the power line and 1/2 ml E of Swauger's Lake - see GSC Paper 69-50. It is about 0.5 km E of the Webber occurrence. The main shaft is situated in a clearing about 230 m S of the power line, and there is a flooded pit about 500 m SE of it.
1899: Boerth Mining Co. sunk 2 shafts and erected a mill with 13 oz Au produced in 1900. 1901: Clarendon Mining Co. sunk 2 smaller shafts. 1904: Out of production. 1952: B. Robson drilled 3 holes (547 ft). 1963: New Providence Investments Ltd. optioned the property, which was then optioned to Ganda Silver Mines Ltd. They sampled quartz veins and drilled 47 holes totaling 7,054 ft. The main shaft was sunk at the marble-gneiss contact. Most of the mining appears to have been by open-cut.1988: Aurochs SEM Inc. carried out geological mapping, assaying and analyses. 1992: W.E. Holmstead carried out overburden stripping, soil and rock sampling for geochemical analyses. 1993: W. Brack carried out prospecting, stripping, trenching, geochemistry, ground geophysical surveys (electromagnetic, IP). 1997-1999: E-Minerals Exploration Corp. carried out prospecting, rock and soil sampling for geochemical analyses.

Apr 30, 2021 (Sheree Hinz) - Mineralization consists of arsenopyrite and lesser pyrite within a series of discordant quartz-ankerite-tourmaline veins in metasediments. The veins are numerous but, generally, narrow and short. Pyrite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite occur mostly as small disseminated grains in the quartz veins or in the hosting biotite gneiss, whereas chalcopyrite forms small clusters and stringers in the quartz veins. The Boerth property lies along the north limb of the Fernleigh Syncline, along with the Webber and James properties. In 1964 Ganda Silver Mines Ltd. took 15 channel samples and 1 chip sample. The chip sample assayed 2.32 oz/ton Au.
