Lithology Comments

Aug 04, 2016 (A Wilson) - Sub-lithographic to fine-crystalline, brown-grey limestone of the Oxford Formation (0.2 m) in horizontal beds 2-8 inches thick (visible above the waterline). Many large crystals of pink and grey calcite and occasional large crystals of pyrite in many of the beds (1912). The Oxford formation consists of light to dark grey, thin- to thick-bedded, sublithographic to fine crystalline dolostone. The weathered surface is light grey to buff to reddish brown. Stromatolites and calcite-filled vugs are common. A thickness of up to 4.1 m was observed in sections within the area.
