Lithology Comments

Sep 17, 2015 (A Wilson) - Two types of sandstone are recognized – a softer easily worked white variety which is marred by brown spots; and a hard flinty type, deeply pitted and full of cavernous spaces lined with black material. No regular quarry has been opened. Softer stone is blasted out at various places on the property. These soft beds range from 10 to 12 inches in thickness. The brown spotted stone has been used as a building stone in Smith’s Falls and the local area.
