Mineralization Comments

Sep 08, 2015 (A Wilson) - The deposit was opened in 1903 as a mica mine; mica and apatite were recovered between 1905 and 1947. It was developed by a shaft and a few pits. There is a large dump near the shaft and smaller ones nearby. A feldspar deposit was worked from a pit located 500 feet southeast of the mica-apatite shaft. The mica-apatite lead occurs along the contact of a pyroxenite dike within gneiss and crystalline limestone. The strike is N30E with a dip to the northwest. The mica and phosphate occur as large pockets along the contact of the dike. Much of the mica is crushed and twisted.
