Point Location Description: Quarry symbol just SW of Telford Bay.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Located 1.5 km W of Bridgenorth, about 1 km W of the Chemong causeway. From Peterborough travel N on Chemong Road for 9.2 km to the Chemong Lake causeway (Co Rd 14), then W for 2.5 km. The abandoned quarry is on a farm property.
The quarry was used to provide crushed stone for the base of the Chemong causeway, and has not been used since then. It is now partially water-filled and overgrown.
Province: Paleozoic and Mesozoic Basins
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Section A-19 (OGS 1981) is a continuous section from this quarry. Exposed are thin-bedded limestones and interbedded calcareous shales of the Middle Ordovician Verulam Formation (4.8 m). The shale interbeds decrease in abundance towards the top of the quarry.
