Exploration History

1901: Crown Corundum and Mica Company did some work. Nine or ten pits for white mica had previously been opened in the nepheline syenite and on the northeastern slope of the mountain several pits were sunk and three or four level entry cuts, each about 100 feet in length, had been driven. It was stated by local residents that 150 tons of mica and corundum had been shipped to the United States. (ODM AR 69-8, p159).
