Lithology Comments

Dec 17, 2020 (Sheree Hinz) - The Zenmac property lies on the border between the Anstruther and Burleigh granite gneiss masses. The property is largely underlain by granite gneiss and granite pegmatite or pegmatitic granite with inclusions of metasediments. The latter are biotite amphibolite, biotite paragneiss, garnet biotite gneiss, and very rarely, marble. The gneisses strike northeast and dip 25 to 50 SE.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 17, 2020 (Sheree Hinz) - Uranium mineralization in pegmatite dikes and sills of epigenetic origin. Exploration by drilling of the fault zone area indicated four uranium-bearing lenses in granite pegmatite adjacent to a garnet gneiss band. Rare accessories present are zircon, molybdenite, and chalcopyrite. The uranium-bearing mineral is not always visible, but orange uranothorite was recognized as grains in biotite, and black uranothorite in quartz. Two drill holes examined by Satterly (1955) returned assays of 0.08% U3O8 and 0.321% U3O8. Reserves: 718,482 tons when the grade is 1.33 lbs U3O8/ton (Northern Miner August 1, 1968) 251,000 tons grading 2.01 lbs U3O8/ton indicated; 102,000 tons grading 1.88 lbs. U3O8/ton inferred; 53,000 tons grading 0.4 lbs. U3O8/ton dilution (SMDR 341).
