Access Description: From Lakefield travel N on Hwy 28 for about 3 km to Co Rd 6. Go E on this road for 17 km to the McCracken's Landing access road. Follow this road to the public landing. Access from here is by boat. Eagle Mount Island is located in the W end of Stoney Lake; the quarry on the W side of the island.
1870-1880 : a small quarry was opened here, immediately adjacent to a small bay on the W side of the island. Granite from here was used in Toronto as cobblestone for the Sherbourne streetcar track. It is probable that quarrying here was contemporaneous with that on nearby Quarry Island, as the amount of material shipped to Toronto exceeds the dimensions of the quarry here. The same family was also involved in both sites.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The quarry is located near the P-C-Paleozoic contact and in granite that is associated with the Burleigh granite gneiss complex to the NW.
