1800s : produced limestone blocks for construction of the Trent canal. Intermittently quarried since then for crushed stone used in road construction.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Thick-bedded limestones of the Gull River Formation, i.e. the lower member of the Bobcaygeon Formation. They are grey to dark brown, lithographic, massive with stylolitic contacts and abundant patches of birdseye texture. They are also fossiliferous. The unit is 5.1 m thick.
