Access Description: On Hwy 36, northeast from Bobcaygeon for approx. 6 km, then N on secondary road for 1.2 km. East along another road and continue for 2.1 km to site.
1954: Stripping and trenching by Roy Kennedy. 1957: Stripping and 7 rock trenches totalling 400 feet by Big Nell Mines Limited. 1957: Geiger survey, sampling of dikes by J. Satterly. Big Nell property covers lots 22 to 26, concession 16 and the western half of lot 27, concession 15.

Apr 10, 2024 (Nazha Sabiri) - Exploration works revealed the presence of three leucogranite pegmatite dikes that strike northeast and dip vertically and host uranium and thorium mineralization.

Apr 10, 2024 (Nazha Sabiri) - North dike is 166 m long with an average grade of 0.138% U3O8 across 2.4 m; centre dike is 125 m long with an average grade of 0.127% U3O8 across 2.3 m and the south dike with 67 m and 0.108% U3O8 across 2.3 m (OFR5635). Five samples by ministry staff in 1957 returned radiometric reading from 0.05% to 0.31% U3O8 with two samples assaying 0.043% U3O8 and 0.14% U3O8 with a Th/U ratio of 3.5/1 and 4.8/1 respectively. (Unpublished OFR 5057, p. 80) Higher U3O8 grade seems to be associated with abundant magnetite mineralization and the ratio of Th/U indicates that the uranothorite is the source of radioactivity.
