Access Description: Quarry is located 2 km southeast of Brechin.
The quarry, presently owned by Lafarge Canada Inc, was opened in 1974 and has a licensed areaa of 331.85 Ha.
Province: Paleozoic and Mesozoic Basins
Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - The quarry exposes 21.5 m of limestone of the Bobcaygeon Formation overlain by 3.3 m of the Verulam Formation of Middle Ordovician age. The Bobcaygeon is a light to dark grey to brown, fine to coarse crystalline and medium bedded separated by thin shale partings, very fossiliferous and intensely burrowed. The Verulam Fmn consists of fine to medium crystalline,grey interbedded highly fossiliferous limestone and shale.
