Jan 11, 2017 (A Wilson) - Gossan zones up to 2 m in thickness occur in several areas within the Howland area. On Lot 19, Concession 2,Snowdon Township, a lithified regolith is developed on pyrite-bearing calcitic dolomite marble. Iron has been leached upward into glacial-fluvial sands of Pleistocene age that overlie the marbles, and has lithified, stained, and altered the sand into a bright-red weathering zone ranging from 1 to 2 m thickness, striking 045º and outcropping along a strike length of over 200 m.
